Architecture before atmosphere

Jungleclevercomet is an independent, informative publication about historic theatre buildings and hospitality. We write for culturally curious travellers who want more than a list of attractive lobbies. Our starting point is the building’s change of role: what survives, what was altered and how the new use works.

We distinguish a retained auditorium from a former theatre site, and both from a hotel beside a theatre. That precision is not intended to diminish imaginative design. It lets each place tell the right story.

What our pages do—and do not do

Our articles offer architectural interpretation and practical questions for travellers. They are not structural assessments, conservation specifications, accessibility audits or legal advice. We do not arrange reservations or guarantee current hotel services.

We are not affiliated with the hotels, theatre operators or heritage organisations mentioned. Links are provided for research and direct confirmation, not as booking endorsements. No affiliate booking links are used on this site.

Evidence and uncertainty

We prioritise identifiable building histories, institutional heritage records and established conservation guidance. Property websites are useful for their own descriptions and current arrangements, but a promotional phrase alone does not prove that historic fabric survives.

We separate documented history from our interpretation. When an image is an architectural reference rather than a verified property view, the caption says so. Historical examples are not automatically current recommendations: operators, room access and event programmes can change.

Corrections improve the programme

If you spot an error, please send the page address, the relevant wording and a source that supports the correction. Archive references, conservation reports and official property histories are especially useful. We do not need booking confirmations, identity documents or other sensitive personal information.
