Reading this website
The site’s own code does not include analytics, advertising trackers, third-party fonts or embedded social media. Images, styles and scripts are served as local site resources. As with ordinary web hosting, infrastructure providers may process request information such as IP address, requested file, time, browser details and error records to deliver and secure the service.
Where we process technical information for reliability and security, our basis is our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the website. We do not use such information to build advertising profiles.
The local contact tool
Typing into the contact composer does not submit information to us. The preview is generated in your browser. Copying places text on your clipboard with your permission; downloading creates a text file on your device. Drafts are not saved by our code to browser storage. Your browser may retain form entries through its own autofill or session features.
Email correspondence
If you send an email, we receive your email address, any name you provide and the message contents, including attachments you choose to include. We use these to answer enquiries, assess corrections and maintain relevant editorial records. Our usual basis is our legitimate interest in communicating with readers and maintaining accurate content; legal obligations may apply to particular records.
Do not send passport details, payment information, health records or other unnecessary sensitive information. We do not use editorial enquiries as a marketing mailing list.
Storage and recipients
Necessary hosting and email providers may process information on our behalf. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information where lawfully required or necessary to address abuse, legal claims or security incidents. Where a provider processes information outside the European Economic Area, applicable transfer requirements and safeguards must be respected.
We retain correspondence only for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry and maintain a proportionate record of relevant editorial decisions or legal obligations. Unnecessary personal details should be removed from longer-lived source notes. You may ask us about the retention applicable to your correspondence.
Browser preferences
The cookie settings page can store your selected preference in localStorage under jungleclevercomet-cookie-preference. It records a choice, not your identity. It remains until replaced or cleared from your browser. See Cookies for controls and further explanation.
Your rights
Depending on the applicable circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. These rights are subject to applicable conditions and exceptions.
Send requests to the editorial email address above. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. You may also complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission or your competent supervisory authority.
